Time: 0732 hours
Location: 215 Larimer Road, Bell Township, Westmoreland County, PA
Nature: Report of train hitting tractor trailer, not at a crossing.
Units from stations 169, 67, 49, 55, 102, 131 and Team 800 were requested to respond to the incident to mitigate a spill from two 55 gallon drums. One drum contained Xylene and the other Glycol Ether that were ejected from the tractor trailer while the rear of the trailer was in the path of the oncoming train. Other contents of the trailer included Sodium Bromide Brickettes in bagged palletized form. The team contained the drums within overpack containers and mitigated the spills that were contained within the railroad ballast and adjoining roadway. Fire department provided fire suppression and assistance with booms and pads at the site.

Team 800 was called to assist the Rostraver Central Fire Department http://www.rostravercentral.com at exit 46B for two Tractor trailers overturned. Four saddle tanks had to be mitigated before the wrecking company could upright the vehicles.

Team 800 was dispatched to assist State Police for decontamination at the scene of an investigation. A complete tent shower decon system was deployed at the scene in Mount Pleasant Township. 8 members of the team were on scene for about 5 hours as the investigation was conducted.

Team 800 responded to Fitz Henry Road near Smithton to a tanker truck that reportedly spilled fluid along Interstate 70 and then under an overpass of the Interstate. The driver placed mitigation devices to slow the flow along the pavement and attempt to keep from entering catch basins.

A report of a box truck overturned on the Exit 51A ramp of Interstate 70 Eastbound. Local fire, EMS, and PSP Belle Vernon responded to the call. Initial size up by Chief 63 reported no injuries. Chief 107 assumed command and requested Team 800 dispatched for a compressed oxygen tank leak.

Team 800 was called to assist in Mount Pleasant Township for a vehicle overturned that had struck a tree and had a breached gas tank. The vehicle leaf spring had appeared to breach the gasoline tank and needed to be off loaded before it could be uprighted safely by the wrecking company.

A fully loaded propane trailer overturned in a parking area for servicing of truck tractors. The tanker pushed trhough soft pavement and tipped over on its running gear, The tanker began to leak and a process to offload and upright the tanker took approximately 6 1/2 hours.
