Team 800 was called to assist in Mount Pleasant Township for a vehicle overturned that had struck a tree and had a breached gas tank. The vehicle leaf spring had appeared to breach the gasoline tank and needed to be off loaded before it could be uprighted safely by the wrecking company. Fuel was leaking from the top of the tank and had flowed onto the ground.
Team members took action by off loading the vehicle tank with a pneumatic pump and using the bonding and grounding method. MItigation of all other residual contaminated areas and tank space with absorbant was performed. Emergency mitigation was used to limit further extent of the spill and the product was laced in a recovery drum. The Team remained on site until the towing company removed the vehicle and drum. The homeowner was advised to contact their insurance company to have any further mitigation and restoration completed once the scene was released back to them by the local fire department.
