Team 800 was dispatched to what appeared to be oil on the water in Derry Township in the area of the Oasis Road bridge. An individual walking their dog noticed a sheen on the water and called 911. Bradenville and New Alexandria firefighters along with water rescue personnel responded quickly with an absorbant boom in that area, The PA DEP and Fish and Boat Commission were on scene and had investigated the area and determined the source of fuel oil. The team was directed to an area on the Loyalhanna Creek about one hundred yards upstream from the Excela Health-Latrobe Helipad to deploy mitigation measures. Booms and pads were placed around the spill area below an outfall storm water pipe with the help of the Latrobe Fire Department water rescue team to contain the product and then turned the scene over to a clean up company retained by Excela Health.
