Team 800 was activated to assist Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection with a release of heating oil from a outside container into a creek. The spill was inially reported to the State Police on Monday March 30, 2015 as a possible vandalism. Observation of the three outside storage tanks showed the crossover line had been broken off by unknown means causing an uncontrolled release. 2 booms were placed into the waterway directly adjacent to the leak location. with an additional 4 booms placed down stream. Absorbant pads were placed below the location of the broken crossover to absorb any remaining product.
The scene was secured and released to PA DEP, and the responsible party was advised to contact an environmental clean up company.
